Who is the NBA MVP?

With the Warriors clearly out of the playoff hunt (and having been that way for a couple of months now) it's time to turn my attention to playoff bound teams. But before that happens, there is the annual debate as to who should be the NBA MVP.

Kobe Bryant won it last year and honestly, I think that Chris Paul deserved it more. Most of you will say that I am biased because I'm i hate Kobe and that is true. I won't argue that fact but you have to look at the award - MOST VALUABLE PLAYER. That implies to me that player that if the team were to play without wouldn't be nearly the same. Last season, Chris Paul lead a team of nobodies to one of the best records in the Western Conference. Kobe did the same thing but I feel that Kobe had a better overall team. If Chris Paul wasn't part of the Hornets, they would be a lottery team and no where near a title contender that they were last year.

This season, Kobe and the Lakers are pretty much doing the same thing they did last year. Chris Paul and the Hornets aren't having nearly as good a season as they did last year so that takes him out of the running, If he wasn't able to win it when his team was doing great, he isn't going to win it when his team is doing just okay. Enter LeBron James. I've said it before and I'll say it again. This guy is a freak! His team has the best record in the NBA right now. If LeBron were to have been hurt and missed the entire season, where would they be? My guess is they would be more like the Washington Wizards in last place.

Now you throw in Dwayne Wade into the mix. His team was horrible last season. They traded Shaq to Phoenix last season for Shawn Marion, they drafted Michael Beasley who is the softest power forward in the world, and then they traded Shawn Marion to Toronto for Jermaine O'Neal who can't play more than 3 games in row without an injury and has a gigantic contract. This team looked to me like the East Coast version of the Clippers. But all of a sudden, Dwayne Wade has this team not only in the playoff race but most likely going to have home court advantage in the first round. Ever since the All-Star break, he has been putting up MVP numbers.

So who is my MVP? If I were to vote right now, I would give it to LeBron. Second would be Dwayne Wade and third would be Kobe. Kobe's team would still be a decent team without him while LeBron and Dwayne Wade are 90% of their teams.

Here is a very well done video clip with highlights from all 3 players. I think I've watched it 6 times just while writing this blog entry. It's that good.
