Vacation Canceled?
It looks like my Caribbean Vacation is about to get axed. I already bought plane tickets and tickets for the cruise and will most likely lose all or nearly all of the money that I put into those tickets. Why you ask? There is a pretty good reason. My wife's mother is sick and is scheduled to have surgery the same time that we are scheduled to go on our cruise. This sucks!

I don't blame anyone. I really doubt that my mother in law intended to get sick. I pray that she gets better and that everything goes well with the surgery. Its just disappointing that this all happens during the worst possible time. It's not like there is ever a good time for someone to get sick but this puts a damper on everything. I'm not really angry. I'm disappointed. It's like a kid who gets excited for Christmas and then someone tells him that Santa has strep throat this year and Christmas is canceled. It's not the end of the world but it still stings.
There is a very very small chance that I still might be able to go on the vacation as planned but I am expecting the worst. Even if we were able to go, the fact that my mother in law is back at home feeling miserable would ruin the whole thing for everyone. It's a lose/lose situation.
I have been wanting to go to the Caribbean for several years now. It was my choice for our honeymoon but our wedding was right in the middle of hurricane season so we went to Mexico instead. I was hoping that we could go this time since my wife just got her vacation days and hurricane season just ended.
The fact of the matter is that this vacation probably won't work out. I just hope that this doesn't happen when the European Vacation comes around otherwise, I am really going to be disappointed.
I hope the weather sucks the week that I would have been down there. At least that would make me feel a little better.
